27 November - DUAL Thanksgiving
The Yale Club of Singapore was glad to be one of the sponsors of another successful DUAL Thanksgiving dinner held at the American Club on Saturday, 27 November. Over 220 guests enjoyed turkey and all of the trimmings while raising money for Food from the Heart (http://www.foodheart.org/.)

Yale alumnus and renowned specialist in Southeast Asian history, Michael Montesano, a Research Fellow at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies in Singapore, gave a noontime talk on 11 November about the current situation in Thailand.

26 August - Bulldogs in Conversations - Sir Peter Crane (Dean of Yale FES)
In our summer Bulldogs in Conversations event, Alumni enjoyed a dinner reception at Garage at Riverside Point with Sir Peter Crane, Dean of the Yale School of Forestry & Environmental Studies.
Dean Crane, who is renown internationally for his work on plant life diversity and who was knighted in the UK for his services to horticulture and conservation, was in Singapore for the 8th International Floral Malesiana Symposium from 23 - 27 August 2010 at the Singapore Botanic Gardens (http://www.sbg.org.sg/fm8/) where he spoke on the Origins of Flowering Plants.

About Sir Peter Crane
Dean Crane is known internationally for his work on the diversity of plant life: its origin and fossil history, current status, and conservation and use. From 1992 to 1999 he was Director of the Field Museum in Chicago with overall responsibility for the Museum's scientific programs. During this time he established the Office of Environmental and Conservation Programs and the Center for Cultural Understanding and Change, which today comprise the Division of Environment, Culture, and Conservation (ECCo).
From 1999 to 2006 he was Director of The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew one of the largest and most influential botanical gardens in the world. His tenure at Kew saw strengthening and expansion of the gardens' scientific, conservation and public programs. Professor Crane was elected to the Royal Society - the UK academy of sciences in 1998. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Foreign Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences, a Foreign Member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, and a Member of the German Academy Leopoldina. He was knighted in the UK for services to horticulture and conservation in 2004.
Dean Crane currently serves on the Boards of the World Wildlife Fund-U.S., the Global Crop Diversity Trust, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the Chicago Botanic Garden, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at the University of Texas and the Gaylord and Dorothy Donnelley Foundation.

27 April - Bulldogs Conversations Lunch with David Teten (Yale '92, investment banker/entrepreneur/author)
For this Bulldogs Conversations Lunch at Brewerkz Riverside Point, we were fortunate to have David Teten (Yale BA/Harvard MBA), who runs New York-based Teten Advisors (www.Teten.com) which specializes in advising PE and venture funds on accelerating deal flow, executive optimization and recruiting and due diligence.
Addressing 13 alumni and friends, David spoke about a study he recently completed on best practices of private equity and venture capital investors in increasing the quality and quantity of private company dealflow. His results will be published in a forthcoming issue of the Harvard Business Review and the Journal of Private Equity. You can see a sneak preview of his findings here: http://teten.com/deals.
